Single Camera
Production Design and Art Direction for Network Television
Experienced with +275 episodes of dramatic television series. Ranging from superhero, supernatural, medical, action-adventure, legal, and procedural.
As the way we shoot evolved, from film to HD, and the frame 16:9 now framing at 2.2:1, the way the scenery is designed changes. Discussing VFX and how many frames we want to ‘see’ something has become a big part of our craft.
Noteworthy projects: Gotham Knights, Legacies, The Originals, Chuck, The Defenders, He Named Me Malala, and Numb3rs.
Multi-Camera (Sitcoms)
Art Director, Assistant Art Director, Set Designer
I broke into union work as an assistant art director on sitcoms. With +250 episodes of sitcoms, I have experience designing, staging, and working with most networks and studios. Starting with videotape, transitioning to film, then to HD, with format changes from 4:3 to widescreen, and ending with 16:9.
Noteworthy projects: Rude Awakenings, Married With Children, Reba, Between Brothers, Oh Baby, and How I Met Your Mother.
Live Events, Game Shows, and Soap Operas
The Bridge from Theater to Television
Working on soap operas, talk shows, and game shows allowed me to learn about the business. I took a break from series television and worked as an Art Director on award shows. The shows were full of great design, good work, fun rehearsals, and the chance to be present at some historical events.
